Had a bad experience before when they rush-served me badly cooked food because they were closing at an earlier time than what Google says, but decided to give them another chance and it was good.
Food is very good, clean and good service.
I absolutely love this place. Im from Colombia and I can say that this restaurant is better than others with the big name here in Houston. The owner was super sweet towards me when I was pregnant and wanted to eat some beans like my moms. She gave me some to wait for my order with some rice and i was the happiest girl ever. My kids love the food as well. I would recommend anyone to come and try it!!!
If this place wasn't 25 mins away from home. We will be there everyday. It is that good. From the lemonade, empanadas, tres leche, pollo a la plancha it is good.
I like the aji sauce. Really ? ?
Very good, excellent. Making good Colombian food is not easy. Not anybody can do it right. I was very satisfied with the food and great service.
My family and I were in the mood for trying unfamiliar foods this morning and we were lucky enough to come across this gem! It's a small house off of 249 so it's easy to miss. I'm not sure the staff speaks English so just a heads up. We all ordered breakfast plates, there are only three in the menu, but all left satisfied. The eggs specifically, with tomatoes and onions, were to die for. Couldn't get enough of them. Fried plantains with rice and beans never disappoint either. We will all definitely be back and look forward to trying their dinner plates and soups.
Excellent food, close to my house.. I went one time with my wife and we have a blast.!! Their bandeja paisa is so good.. It's hard to find a good Colombian restaurant in this city.. Specially in north side of Houston !! Beans taste like Colombian beans!!! We love it !!!
This "restaurante Colombiano" is the real deal. It's a cozy, family-owned restaurant on 249, located inside a small yellow house encircled by Colombian flags. Everything you will eat at La Sazon Colombiana is about as authentic as you will find in Houston, and I've been to most of the Colombian restaurants in the city.
The rice and beans here are life changing! Only in Colombia can such a humble pairing as rice and beans taste like something you'd pay big bucks for.... but La Sazon Colombiana---here in Houston---gets it right! Like another reviewer said, the beans taste like Colombian beans. La Bandeja Paisa is perfect if you want to sample a bit of everything and desire to try the national dish of Colombia. You will get a big platter of rice and beans, chicharron, chorizo, steak, avocado, plantain, a fried egg, and an arepa. It's a delicious, filling conglomeration of food.
If you're not in the mood for the Bandeja Paisa, everything else at this restaurant is tasty. The fried yucca is perfect... it's not the mushy, pasty frozen kind you can find at other restaurants around Houston. The cooks at this restaurant use fresh yucca. My favorite thing to order when I'm not in the mood for rice and beans are their stuffed arepas. They offer arepas stuffed with cheese and your choice of chicharron, beef, or chicken. All choices are delicious and SUPER cheesy!
As for drinks, do yourself a favor and order either a fresh fruit smoothie or a HOT CHOCOLATE. The hot chocolate here tastes just like the chocolate my abuelita used to make every Saturday morning! If you've never tried Colombian hot chocolate, this is the place to do it. If you're in the mood for something fun and decadent, order your hot chocolate "con queso." It will come with cheese to put inside of your hot chocolate that will get gooey and chocolatey and delicious. It may sound odd, but it's worth a shot.
Quick warning: The aji is SPICY here. It isn't watery like at other Colombian restaurants around the city. The aji at La Sazon Colombiana is freshly made and just like you'll find in Colombia. Use in small quantities unless you want to down a glass of water and cry "moooommmyyyy!!!!"
Good empanadas & arepas. We always order their badeja paisa and love it.
Our friend suggested we meet here for dinner and what a pleasant surprise to find another Colombian restaurant in our neck of the woods. It's a small, quaint restaurant with outdoor seating; the only issue I had with sitting inside was that they did not have the A/C on cool, and it was humid. I had to ask the waitress to turn on the ceiling fans to get some air circulating in the room.
Their menu had a simple selection of the main Colombian plates on one side - empanadas, arrepas, bandeja paisa, carne asada, and lengua en salsa - and a slew of juices and smoothies on the other. For a drink I highly recommend their homemade lemonade - absolutely delicious! Their empanadas are fresh, hot, and crunchy - just the way I like them. If you are a fan of chorizo and order the bandeja paisa, I suggest ordering an extra chorizo because they only give you a a small portion of one. it also has a spicy kick to it too. Their aji picante "hot sauce" is absolutely the best I have ever had.
The only negative I could find about my experience is that the waitress who took our order does not speak English. I spoke to her a couple of times, and she referred over to my husband for translation.
My first Colombian food adventure and this place did not disappoint. Everything was tasty and fresh. The Mango shake with milk was perfect!
love this place. and according to my woman (colombian) it's authentic!
- arepa con queso done outstanding!
- bandeja paisa excellent
- cafe con leche (goldilocks good - flavor just right!)
GO ALREADY for a really flavorful experience with a great value
Great food, clean establishment ...family owned they have friendly attentive service. Give it a try!
The Colombian food here is excellent. Used to go to Mi Pueblito but found this place 5 mins away from home.
Colombian food is rare in Houston, but I can give this place a good 4 stars. Ambience is pretty authentic and the food is pretty good. Music could be a tiny bit louder, but the choice of music is awesome! I'm Colombian myself and they made me feel at home which is pretty rare at a restaurant! Service is a little delayed, but nonetheless they'll treat you right! Try the Bandeja Paisa! It's awesome!
Thank you for the good service!
The best colombia food in Texas. Must try the empanadas, lengua en salsa or the bandeja paisa. The price is right and the service is awesome.
Buen Servicio, Good Service, me and my family enjoy the food here.
My colombian friend mentioned that I gotta check this place out and bam I'm here. The food is awesome!! I had the Bisteck a Caballo. They have live music. Just need to fix the AC.
